Stage 1 Robotics & Coding
Stage 1 Robotics & Coding
Robotics & Coding in Stage 1
Robotics & Coding in Stage 1 is a hands-on practical workshop, providing teachers with the necessary skills to plan and implement Robotics & Coding across the curriculum, linking to outcomes in various KLA. Join RoboLink Education Director, Dr Lauren Purcell, for a day of hands-on STEM Professional Learning – lots of interaction and time to experiment with various robots in guided activities, and less of the sleep-inducing lecture notes and slides!
Creating Robotics & Coding activities for the classroom is a fun and highly engaging method of creating rich and collaborative learning opportunities which support students in developing higher order and critical thinking skills, while teaching design thinking and problem-solving capabilities – elements that all underpin the success of the 21st century learner.
Participants will explore the Digital Technologies strand in the new Science & Technology curriculum and identify connections to be made with other KLA – linking Robotics & Coding to the Numeracy & Literacy continuums. We will discuss the Scientific Method and the Design Process and how it can be taught with Robotics & Coding through the development of Project-Based Learning units of study.
On the day, participants will explore a variety of stage appropriate robots and their associated coding languages, including:
Dash & Dot
LEGO We Do Robotics
This is an ideal introduction workshop for schools who wish to implement Robotics & Coding, and a consolidating workshop for teachers with some experience in Robotics & Coding who are looking to upskill and/or learn about other robots which are relevant to their Stage.
